Train driver strikes reminder: EMR services disrupted by latest round of industrial action

  • EMR unable to run any services on Saturday, December 2, due to industrial action by the ASLEF union
  • Intercity services on December 3 will be extremely busy due to strikes and engineering works on other routes
  • Strikes are part of a programme of industrial action affecting 16 train companies between December 1-9
  • EMR expecting to run normal timetable on 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 December - customers should check for journey updates

East Midlands Railway (EMR) will not be able to run any services on Saturday, December 2, due to industrial action by the train drivers' union ASLEF.

The strike is part of a programme of industrial action affecting 16 train companies between December 1-9. This is a new staggered approach by the union and has been designed to create a unique series of negative impacts which aims to create wide-ranging disruption and cancellations across the network - affecting different train operators on different days.

On Sunday, December 3, EMR Intercity services will be very busy due to strike action and engineering work on other train companies' routes. No EMR trains will operate between Derby and Crewe, Sleaford and Skegness and Nottingham and Liverpool.

Between 4 and 9 December, EMR will be operating a full timetable. However, on these days there may be some late notice cancellations and changes to train times due to an overtime ban. Some trains will also be busier than usual.

EMR is advising customers to regularly check its website or app to ensure they have the latest information for their journey. Customers should also check first and last trains of the day and the day after strike action for any service alterations.

Strike action's impact on services

EMR Services will be extremely busy due to engineering works on the East Coast Mainline and strike action taking place affecting other train operators serving the capital. This will mean a significant increase in customers using EMR Intercity services - especially at London St Pancras. To manage this, a number of EMR Regional services have been cancelled to free up resources.
