Spirit of Christmas: EMR team up with sandwich supplier to support children's charity

  • Spirit of Christmas campaign will see money from sandwich sales donated to children's charity
  • Money will be used to support Meals and More
  • The charity supports children who have limited access to food provision and activity during school holidays

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is teaming up with its sandwich supplier to support a campaign aimed at raising money for a children's charity.

The Spirit of Christmas campaign will see 25 pence from every Simply Lunch Vegan Festive Feast sandwich donated to Meals and More.

The charity aims to end holiday hunger and social isolation affecting children who have access to free school meals during term time, but for whom there is inadequate food provision during school holidays. It works to provide funding and stability to allow holiday clubs across the UK to offer nutritious food and social activities for the children who attend.

As a result of this collaboration, which is also being supported by Quorn, it will lead to a substantial positive impact on the lives of the vulnerable children the the charity support.

Dave Meredith, Customer Services Director at East Midlands Railway, said: "We are delighted to play our part in this worthwhile campaign. I'm sure the sandwich will prove to be a popular festive choice for our customers - especially since choosing it will support such a great charity."

William Page, Marketing and Digitalisation Director at Simply Lunch, said: "This campaign signifies a shared commitment to a brighter future for these young minds, offering them opportunities for growth, nourishment, and social engagement.”

Peter McGrath, Operations Director at Meals & More said: "Thank you all involved in this campaign. The funds raised from the sales of each sandwich will make such a difference to so many children and young people throughout the coming year during the school holidays."
