Derby Zone 1 Car Park and Railway Terrace: Intermittent closures in March to allow access for road improvements

  • Zone 1 Car Park and Railway Terrace will be closed intermittently during March
  • On days of closure, customers can use Zone 2 and Zone 3 Car Parks
  • Buses serving the station will be diverted and use different stops
  • Customers urged to check website and allow extra time to make journey

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is advising Derby customers who regularly use Zone 1 Car Park to allow for additional travel time next month, as nearby road improvements will affect its access.

Since July, Railway Terrace has been operating under a one-way system, allowing through access only from the City Centre and facilitating access to/from Midland Road for public buses.

The culmination of these works, which are being carried out by Derby City Council, will result in intermittent closures of the station's Zone 1 Car Park and Railway Terrace during March. Diversions and access limitations will change throughout the month as the project progresses.

Customers are strongly urged to plan their route to the station carefully and allow for additional travel time.

On the dates that Zone 1 Car Park is closed, customers may need to use Zone 2 car park (on Roundhouse Road) or Zone 3 car park (off Midland Road) instead. If they use public transport, they should be aware that the buses will be diverted on some dates, with alternative pick-up and drop-off points.

Closure dates and access details are subject to change; therefore, travellers are advised to stay updated on the latest information before embarking on their journeys.

Dave Meredith, Customer Services Director at East Midlands Railway, said: "We would like to thank our customers for their patience while these works take place.

"Any customers who think they could be affected should visit our website to understand how accessing our station will be changed by these works.

"Customers who normally park in Zone 1 can use our other car parks, and passengers who arrive by bus should be aware that there will be diversions and changes to the normal stops."
