Derby Station road improvements: EMR customers advised to leave extra time to park

  • Resurfacing works on roads around Derby Station's main entrance to begin on Monday, 10 July
  • Journey times to the station may take longer
  • Access to station, Zone 1, and Zone 3 car parks not affected

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is advising customers who use Derby station to allow extra time to park or drop off loved ones due to the impact of a nearby road resurfacing project.

The project, which is being undertaken by Derby City Council and is due to start on Monday, 10 July, will include the resurfacing of the roads and pavements outside Derby station - including on nearby Railway Terrace and Midland Road.

The works will mean a one-way system will be in place until the end of 2023 and although they will not impact access to the station - including Zone 1 or Zone 3 car parks - journey times may take longer.

The project will see improved links from Derby Station and Pride Park to the city centre, with new cycle routes, footpaths and bridges being created.

Neil Grabham, Customer Services Director at East Midlands Railway said: "We welcome these important works which will make it safer and easier for our customers to travel to the station.

"Although they do not impact access to the station or our car parks, customers are advised to leave extra time to travel to our car parks or station drop offs while the works are underway."
