A love letter to Sheffield: EMR launches competition to win Standing at the Sky’s Edge Musical Tickets

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is excited to announce a competition offering its customers the chance to win tickets to the critically acclaimed musical, Standing at the Sky’s Edge.

Standing at the Sky’s Edge has garnered widespread acclaim, winning prestigious awards such as the Olivier Award for Best New Musical and the UK Theatre Award for Best Musical Production. Transferring to the West End after sold-out runs at the National Theatre and Sheffield Theatres, this musical has been hailed as "the most exciting new British musical in years" by WhatsOnStage.

Directed by Sheffield Theatres’ Artistic Director Robert Hastie, Standing at the Sky’s Edge features irresistible songs by legendary singer-songwriter Richard Hawley and a poignant book by Chris Bush.

The musical serves as a heartfelt exploration of the history of modern Britain, weaving together the hopes, dreams, and struggles of three generations against the backdrop of a landmark housing estate.

Winners will be picked at random and EMR will notify them via its Instagram message.

Special ticket offer for EMR customers 

In addition to the competition, EMR is also extending an exclusive offer to its customers by providing discounted ticket prices for performances of Standing at the Sky’s Edge. EMR customers have the potential to save up to 48 per cent on the cost of a ticket up until Thursday, April 16.

Competition terms and conditions

2. Only one entry per person will be accepted.
3. Prize includes First Class return EMR train travel to London and tickets for up to 4 people to see Standing at the Sky's Edge (redeemable for Tuesday – Thursday performances only from 23 April to 30 June 2024).
4. The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and subject to availability. There is no cash alternative.
5. Competition is open to residents of the UK and RoI, except employees and their relatives or anyone connected to the promotion. Entrants must be over 18. Only one entry per person, per draw.
6. Closing time and date for entry will be 11:59 pm on Monday 15 April. After this date, no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
7. We reserve the right to cancel or amend the competition at any time.
8. The winner will be selected on Tuesday 16 April. If the winner cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 24 hours of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement.
9. Winner will be selected at random using a randomiser tool.
